Description
The word “sautoir” is derived from the French verb, “to jump.” Originally, a sautoir was attached to a harness or saddle, and used to assist a horseman to jump onto his horse. In French, sautoir refers to a four foot long, or longer, necklace. This versatile and playful design is about 54 inches, and can be doubled or even tripled around your neck. Wear it with a pearl clip, loosely twist the layers and wear it as a torsade, or style it with other chains or pendants.
This snowflake themed sparkler is showy and sophisticated. It features irregular, alternating sections of open link chain, stations of white genuine freshwater pearls, hematite, icy crystals, and shimmering snowflakes, linked together in one very long strand. Some sections of chain are three inches, others, five inches. Some of the snowflake sections feature a varying mix of pearls, diamond-cut silvery beads, shiny steel and hematite, and crystals in various sizes, connected by freeform twists of wire spirals. Other sections consist of a variety of snowflake charms, linked end-to-end, anchored by gleaming metal accents and tiny crystal points of light.
The design represents snow flurries, when lacy snowflakes float in random windswept swirls in fits and starts as they flutter to earth, this dazzling design is as breathtaking as that first chill blast of a winter snowstorm.
No two necklaces will be exactly alike, in keeping with the organic sensibility. This piece is a showstopper, and not for those who prefer demure jewelry! Snowflakes, stainless steel, 1/2 to about 3/4 inches in diameter. Cultured freshwater pearls, 8mm. Steel and hematite beads vary from 8 to 10mm. Lobster claw clasp, stainless steel.
