The Sparkle Squad December box description is here!

The December Sparkle Squad boxes have shipped, and here is your quarterly description of the packaging and contents. This time around, our boxes are all decked out for the holidays!

Last year, I went snowflake crazy, and designed a handful of jewelry and accessories items featuring a winter motif. The grouping felt incomplete, however, as I had wanted to add a link or charm bracelet to the collection, but ran out of time. So, for our December Sparkle Squad box, everyone, no matter the box to which you are subscribed, received a prototype version of a brand new snowflake motif charm bracelet that may be added to the web site later this winter. It features all of the elements used in the other pieces, including large white freshwater pearls, hematite round beads, silvery metallic crystals, and of course, sparkling snowflakes!

All subscribers, both Sparkle Dots and Essential Elegance box recipients, also received a leather zip bag, courtesy of Guidelights and Gadgets. These genuine leather pouches have zippers front and back, a top zip and two smaller zipper sections on the front face. The woven strap is a tonal match to the bag, and you may have received either a deep green or brown leather bag. If you’d like more information on the fabulous inventory of leather bags, backpacks, purses, and pouches available from Guidelights and Gadgets, contact Barry and Kae at:

Big thanks to Guidelights and Gadgets for the contribution to our subscription boxes!

Finally, in addition to the items above, the Essential Elegance box subscribers also received our Snowman Holiday Ornament, which is this year’s edition in an ongoing series. He has an engraved face, top hat, buttons down his front, and an all-over engraved snowflake pattern on the reverse. Plus, he’s wearing a silk cord scarf. He says “Merry Christmas 2021” in grade 2 braille, and he has a silver metallic hang cord.

All items were wrapped up in metallic gold tissue paper, adorned with a smattering of gold stars. Your jewelry was packaged in a gleaming metallic gold foil box we crafted just for our holiday Sparkle Squad subscribers.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for our Sparkle Squad subscription, and we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year. Your next box will ship this spring, so look for a reminder to land in your inbox on march 1st.

The Sparkle Squad subscription boxes for September are pretty in pink.

Our second Sparkle Squad subscription boxes have shipped, and if you’ve opened yours, here is your quarterly post describing the contents. Everyone received a piece of jewelry, but there’s a non-jewelry item in the box that I’m sure has left you mystified. It amused me to imagine your reaction as you tried to guess at its purpose. Read on!

The theme this time around is “pretty in pink,” since all of the packaging, as well as the contents, is a variation of pink or rose. The tissue paper is a metallic pink with a polka-dot pattern on it, which is Cheree’s favorite. For those of you who don’t know, Cheree is one of the artists who has worked with me over the years, making jewelry, and now, has helped me to come up with some great Sparkle Squad box packaging. In addition to the metallic tissue, Cheree made the little boxes that contains one of the items you received. The box is a gleaming rose gold foil, and Cheree used a special tool to imprint either Essential Elegance or Sparkle Dots on the boxes, then she added a “thank you” sticker. The jewelry is tucked into our usual purple satin drawstring pouch.

Mixed composition photo of Sparkle Squad packaging, showing pink metallic tissue paper with polka-dot pattern, a rose gold foil box that says Essential Elegance, a purple satin pouch and an Elegant Insights business card.

I’ll begin with the items that everyone received in their box, the mystery item that, if you did not immediately know what it was, you might think it was a plastic sandwich bag. No, it’s not meant for your lunch. Pull all of them out of the box, and you’ll notice there are actually two different sizes of these plastic sleeves. They are cell phone and tablet protectors.

My thinking was that with the onset of fall weather, you might find yourself out in the elements with your phone or tablet. Maybe you have to wait at a bus stop, call for a ride share vehicle, or find yourself locked out, and in the rain or snow. Or, maybe you work in an office setting with cold and flu working its way through the people in your department, or the person sharing your cubicle or desk is a germ factory. Or, maybe you find yourself surrounded by little ones with sticky fingers who want to play with your tablet. Or, maybe you just got a brand new gadget, and while you are awaiting the arrival of the new case and screen protector you ordered, you need something to protect your device.

Just slide your phone or tablet into the sleeve, fold over the top with the adhesive, and you can keep your gadget safe from the elements, dirt, fingerprints, and who knows what else. You will be able to use the touch screen while the sleeve protects your expensive tech. They are reusable, although you received 5 of each size, so keep one in your purse, desk, or kitchen drawer for those situations where you need to use the device with messy hands. You can even tuck one of them into a pocket on your phone case, if you have an expensive leather case you don’t want ruined by the rain, or you can use them to protect whatever fits in it — chargers, cords, whatever. You never know when one of these clever sleeves will come in handy.

Now, on to the jewelry!

The Essential Elegance Box

The Essential Elegance Box includes a beautiful gem station convertible necklace. It’s about 24 inches long, and the rolo link chain and toggle clasp are a gleaming stainless steel. The bead stations consist of 3 beads, a large, natural nugget-shaped rose quartz bead that is flanked by blush pink genuine freshwater pearls. Each station is separated by about 2 inches of chain.

The reason the necklace is called “convertible is that you can wear it two ways. If you wear the toggle clasp in back, the necklace is a simple and classic look. If you wear it with the toggle clasp in front, you can add a pendant to it, using an enhancer bail that clips over the ring of the toggle clasp, changing the necklace into a more casual style. We’ll have several pendants from which to choose on the Elegant Insights web site. One is an exact match to the necklace, which you can use with other chains you may already have. It features a large nugget rose quartz bead, and a little dangle grouping of the pink pearls that exactly match the necklace. Another interchangeable pendant will be a cross pendant, again, using the same pretty pink pearls from your necklace, and 8mm round rose quartz beads. We can even engrave the cross with a special message, or add a few braille characters of your choice.

The Sparkle Dots Box

The Sparkle Dots Box includes leverback dangle earrings that are an exact match to the necklace described above. They feature a stainless steel leverback finding, with a pretty little dangle of rose quartz and blush pink pearls. The overall length is about 1 and 1/2 inches. The Sparkle Dots box also contained the set of 10 gadget sleeves mentioned above.

Photo of the rose quartz and pink pearl necklace arranged in a circle on a purple background, with matching earrings in the center of the circle.

If you want to augment your jewelry with additional items, they will be available on the Elegant Insights web site soon. If you have the earrings, the dangle drop pendant would be super cute clipped to a bracelet or neck chain you already have. If you received the necklace, the earrings are an exact match, and would be a knockout set. If you want more of the phone or gadget sleeves, I won’t be putting them up on the web site for sale, but let me know if you want more, and I’ll send you another set of 10 for just the cost of shipping.

We’re already working on the designs for the next Sparkle Squad boxes, which will ship December 10. We’ll also have a holiday gift bonus box that you can purchase for friends or family, which will include jewelry and accessories items you can keep for yourself or give away as separate gifts. We hope you love the items in your pretty pink Sparkle Squad box, and as always, don’t hesitate to drop us a note if you have any subscription box or jewelry design ideas.

Did you miss the deadline for the September Sparkle Squad subscription? We’ve got you, don’t worry. If you want to become a Sparkle Squad subscriber, start here! Or, we will have a one-time-only box available for you, if you just want to check out the boxes, and decide whether or not a subscription is for you. Look for the one-time-only box in a few weeks.

The Sparkle Squad makes a splash with the debut subscription boxes! Get the details here!

The debut boxes for the Sparkle Squad subscription have shipped, and if you are among the recipients, here is the first post describing the contents. Each quarter, on the 15th of the ship month, you can return here to get the rundown, as well as links to coordinating items to round out your collection.

If you are not a Sparkle Squad subscriber, stay tuned for more info on how to jump in. Subscribers get discounts and product exclusives, so the items described in this post may not yet be available on Elegant Insights, and when they do become available, the retail price may be higher than the cost of the box. So, if you want all the juicy benefits, join the Sparkle Squad today!

The Sparkle Squad subscription consists of a choice of two boxes. The Sparkle Dots box includes jewelry and/or accessories inspired by the Elegant Insights product line. Many, but not all, of the items will be braille-embossed. The Essential Elegance box consists of jewelry and/or accessories that are easy-on, easy-off styles, with frustration-free clasps or slip-on options, perfect for anyone who wants to keep their jewelry collection simple and elegant. Below are descriptions of the contents of each box.

The Sparkle Dots Box:

The Tropical Seascape Purse Charm – For summer 2021, we plan to launch a new collection inspired by a beach vacation getaway. The Tropical Seascape purse charm features a silver tone clasp for attaching to the hardware of your handbag, and a jingly-jangly cascade of sea creatures and crustaceans. Along the length of a stainless steel chain you’ll find a sweet little seahorse, a crab, a tropical fish, and a sea star. We’ve embellished the chain with vivid, sparkling turquoise crystals the color of an island lagoon, diamond-cut round beads, turquoise genuine mother of pearl coin-shaped shell beads that look like bubbles rising to the surface, tiny starfish and scallop shell charms in silvery steel, and at the bottom, a large clownfish shaped charm, braille-embossed with the word, “serenity.”

Scentsy Sachet – These fantastically fragrant sachets come from Scentsy with Nini, and each fragrance evokes the scent of summer. Everyone received a randomly selected fragrance, so if you love yours and want more just like it, go here to order, or reach out via the sticker on the packaging. You can also call Nini at 916-206-1151. Fill your life with fragrance with Scentsy by Nini.

The Essential Elegance Box:

Going forward, the plan for this box will become more of a departure from the Sparkle Dots box, for our first shipment, however, we wanted to keep things simple so we could ensure a smooth debut, and fewer complications. So, in addition to the items described above, the Tropical Seascape Purse Charm and the Scentsy sachet by Nini, subscribers of this box also received the brand new Sand and Sea Expandable Dangle Bangle Bracelet.

The Sand & Sea Bangle – This fashionable wristwear features a slender wire bracelet, embellished with genuine freshwater pearls in seashell shades, such as sand, peach, and blush pink. A tiny starfish and textured clamshell charm is set off by a scallop shell, braille-embossed with “sand and sea,” in grade 2 braille. This fun accessory just says summer.

Both boxes are packaged in our pretty brand colors, purple and teal, with a mesh drawstring jewelry pouch and purple tissue. We hope you love your first box, and we hope to delight you each quarter with fun and fashionable jewelry and accessories that are beautiful and inspiring. Coming soon, you can look forward to new items to add to your collection, including the Tranquil Tidepool Mobility Cane Charm, the Beach Ya To It Zipper Pulls, and the Seaside Serenity Dangle Earrings. You’ll find these new items on the Elegant Insights homepage June 20th.

A subscription for all seasons, and ten reasons to celebrate!

As milestones go, this one is a big one for me. It’s the ten year anniversary of Elegant Insights. Launched in spring of 2011, Elegant Insights has offered beautiful handcrafted original jewelry and accessories embossed in braille. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but talk to any entrepreneur and they are likely to confess that the business road is a bumpy one, with a seemingly endless gauntlet of challenging obstacles to overcome. The pandemic has required many of us to change the way we live and work, and for business owners, that has meant changing the way products and services are delivered. Elegant Insights has been no different.

In an effort to add new and exciting designs, along with fun new ways to shop for them, I’ve decided one way to pivot to the new paradigm is to jump on the subscription box bandwagon. By now, everyone has heard of, if not subscribed to, Stitch Fix, Ipsy, Dollar Shave Club, Birch Box, or insert snack or coffee of the month club subscription here. It’s a great business model, fun for both the customer and the business owner, and I thought it might be an interesting way to introduce our products to a whole new market. So, I’ve created the Sparkle Squad, an open membership of current customers or new fans, who can subscribe to a choice of two subscription boxes, each with a different emphasis.

The first choice is a well-priced box I created for my existing customers, or anyone who loves the idea of jewelry embossed in braille. It’s called the Sparkle Dots box. Many of the items I plan to include will be inspired by our existing inventory. In the case of the very first box, subscribers will receive an item that will be exclusive to the subscription, and may not be incorporated into our product line until later in the summer. However, coordinating items will be available right away. So, if you love the item in the first box, you’ll love the other items in the vignette. Subscribers can come back here to the Sparkle On blog to get a complete description of the items in their box. At just $25 plus shipping, the Sparkle Dots Box is a perfect pick-me-up for fans of our braille jewelry and accessories.

The second subscription is designed to be a bit more generic in that the theme is inclusivity, but not necessarily intended for a braille-reading consumer. Rather, this box is ideal for anyone who wants to keep things simple yet stylish. The Essential Elegance Box will consist of jewelry and accessories that are easy-on, easy-off, with frustration-free clasps and jewelry that can be worn multiple ways. Again, coordinating pieces will be available on the Elegant Insights web site, and subscribers can return here to the Sparkle On Blog to get the rundown on the contents of their box. The Essential Elegance Box will be $50.

A strand of pearls, a wire bracelet, and loose crystals are scattered on the foreground. At top is an Elegant Insights business card next to a heart pendant necklace braille embossed with E I.

In both cases, the boxes will ship on a fixed, quarterly, ship date that will remain the same every year. Each season, on the 10th or so of each ship month – June, September, December, and March – subscribers will receive a new box. In addition to jewelry, we plan to include all sorts of fun accessories, some of which may be jewelry-related, such as a cleaning kit, or it may be they gadget or purse accessory. I hope to also offer “one-off,” or bonus boxes for special holiday items or gift-giving. No matter which box you choose, you can fill out a short questionnaire that will enable us to tailor your subscription to your preferences.

The Sparkle Squad subscription project has been a huge undertaking, and far more complex than I had thought it would be at first. I’m still tinkering on the web site, trying to nail down the workflow and ensure proper notifications and order processing. Unfortunately, I won’t know how well the system works until the orders begin, but sometimes you just have to go all in and squash those bugs in real time.

Update: The Sparkle Squad subscription is now live! To get the scoop, and fill out the style survey, start here:

elegantinsightsjewelry.com/sparkle-squad/.

Our tenth anniversary year has been a blast so far. While it remains to be seen if this new endeavor will fly, I’m looking forward to the next ten years of serving my community and offering our distinctive, handcrafted collection of jewelry and accessories with a tactile twist!

Sparkle on!
